It was a grey Saturday morning and the smell of tequila was in the air (by me and hence the title and me writing this match report). We had a solid warm up and we were fighting ready. I say fighting slightly too literally as within the first two minutes there was a head injury to defender, Emma Rickards. This put us a sub down for the rest of the game.
I stepped in to help attempting to fill the right back role, despite being a usual mid. The game continued and Jess Mayer in the midfield put in a solid performance and helped to push the ball up the pitch to the forward line.
Sadly, no goals were scored leaving the first half 0-0 but the first time that a goal hasn't been conceded in the first half.
After a constructive half time talk from Sanj we went back on hungry for a goal. We pushed hard but a short corner got Old Kingstonians a goal towards the end of the half and when the whistle blew we hadn’t equalised.
Despite the score we walked away with our heads held high because we’d had a great performance as a team and were really working well together, one of our best games to date!
