Accidentals v Richmond Deerstalkers
By David George
Worgs had a good feeling about this one even though they were close to the top and we still in a lowly position despite our recent strong run. And how close we came, going toe to toe against a very strong team of capable and well drilled players.
Jack was elusive all game, Arthur’s really owning it in the centre these days, Sean G showed great work rate, Milo ran their right half ragged all game, Miguel quietly efficient, Will getting stronger each game. Lucas again showed glimpses of what’s to come. Rod got more and more excited by our prospects as the game went on.
Arthur’s well worked short got us ahead and we felt we were on to something but they had a little more quality than us when it really mattered. Will, guesting, cleared the ball off the line. Kev let a short through his legs, and a defensive kerfuffle saw them 3-1 up. We showed great willing to hit back straight away through Jack Bailey and they were relieved when the final whistle went. Best game ever, said Rod, delighted with our attitude and coherent play. He limped off to find some nurofen to aid his post match recovery.
I cycled back via Duke’s and ran in to Jon Peplow watching the first team. Lonely job that was, just the two of us there in support. So a big thank you to Mrs and Mrs G, Dan, Miguel’s dad. All this support each week means a lot.
