 As you might imagine, with fifteen active teams, we have a very lively social scene here at Barnes Hockey Club.
Our programme of events include our annual Sports Day, Curry Nights and Christmas activities culminating in our traditional End of Season Ball - which has become the stuff of local legend.

The evening of Saturday 28th February saw BHC's first quiz of the year, which was a roaring success by all accounts!
Run by the Ladies 3rd XI, the evening began after the all important rugby finished and included a chilli and jacket potato supper, quiz and raffle.
The raffle was kindly drawn by the ever ready Linda and Tom, and included prizes from bottles of whisky, wine, cinema tickets, underwear and restaurant vouchers to Anne Summer's finest, and the obligatory cuddly toy!
Over 60 people in their teams grappled with the questions covering a huge range of topics from the sublime to downright silly.
Best team name went to 'Bollocks I knew that!' with Wooden Spoons going to 'What the f...?'
Following stringent double checking, there was a play off for third place, ending in the top 3 team placing as follows:
3rd place – ‘Super Sixes’ taking home a bottle of Champagne
2nd place – ‘Hairy Beavers’ carrying off a case of Budweiser
1st place – ‘Big Beavers’ winning an hour's session at Lucky Voice Karaoke and branded t-shirts (rumour has it, it may come in handy for a certain team's end of season do)!
All in all the evening was enjoyed by all, attendance coming from a wide cross section of the club, as well as a few people from the tennis section too!
Total raised for the Club, net of costs was over £800! Many thanks to all who helped make the night such a huge success behind the scene and those who came along and supported.

The hockey club held a Pirate theme social at the club house. The costume efforts were clear for all to see as eye patches, swords and parrots were present at the bar! An enjoyable evening and fun was had by all! Keep an eye out for the next club social... lets really fill up the bar together.
