BARNES HOCKEY CLUB COLTS

At BHC we understand the need to cultivate and develop the next generation of hockey players, both for the good of the sport and for our club.

Three years ago , we started our colts section and it has gone from strength to strength. We now boast on average 50 to 60 Colts at every training session, have taken part in various competitive matches against local clubs and are proud to have watched the growth of our colts' enthusiasm and skill.

We welcome girls and boys from age 6, most of whom have never played before, up to age 13, some of whom have gone on to play competitive hockey at school and county. We begin with the basic stick and ball skills essential to the game, then move on to more complicated exercises and match play.

Hockey is a great game for girls to realise their speed and strength and for boys who are just naturally suited to the speed and agility of the game. It is a non-contact sport and develops pitch awareness, fitness and team play.

We rely on our members passion for the game to help coach our juniors and have developed a warm, friendly colts section, loved by both players and parents.
